How to Decorate Your Office Space

Decorate Office

Usually, people have office within homes or apartments with multiple bedrooms. Your home office, particularly if your primarily work from home, is probably where you are going to spend a majority of your time. To create a great space to work in, you want it to be comfortable as well as nice to look at.

The pieces of furniture you pick for your office, however, should be mostly functional rather than based around their look. Neatness and organization should also influence your plan for decorating an office space. Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Sometimes, you may have clients come to your home office. You probably want it to look as warm and inviting as possible. Try to put some bright paint on the walls or maybe add one brick wall as a nice accent. A nice area rug with a warm color can also bright up a room. Don’t forget to hang one or two nice prints on the walls.

2. Never have your wires and cables hanging out. It makes your office look disorganized and messy. If you can’t completely hide them, try wrapping any cords visible so that they lie flat. You can also run cords through a hole in a desk so that they are spilling out from the back of your computer.

3. It’s understandable that someone would want a nice-looking desk chair from a designer label. It can add a sense of professionalism to any space. However, buying these chairs isn’t always the most practical idea because expensive designer chairs tend to be more uncomfortable. Their makers were probably more focused on looks than comfort. A good desk chair should have an adjustable height, the ability to recline, plushy armrests, wheels and adjustable lumbar support.

4. An office space should have good lighting because it can make it easier to work in as well as have a positive effect on its overall atmosphere. Overhead lighting should be set up along with a bright desk lamp so you can easily see what you are doing. Lighting and the placement of your windows shouldn’t cause glare on your screen. Try to avoid fluorescent lighting as well.

An office should have a few pieces of furniture that provide hidden storage space. You are going to need a place to hide paperwork and other electronics.
