Seattle Real Estate Facts and Amenities

Seattle, which is known to be a very rainy city, has recently undergone a surge in the number of foreclosures it has been experiencing. In the metropolitan area, there was about a 67 percent increase in the number of foreclosures from the year before. This is because the economy in Seattle, even though it has improved, still isn't the best that it could be and it causes people to have difficulties paying off their mortgages. Overall, Washington has the ninth highest foreclosure rate in the country.

Seattle was originally settled by a group of explorers in 1851 who built a small village called "Duwamps" which was inspired by the nearby Duwamish River. Today, it is a major technology center and also a major place for "green" industry. There is also a major music scene here and Seattle used to have a lively jazz scene and, most recently, was the birthplace of "grunge" music. Some places to visit are the Space Needlepoint, which is a restaurant in a futuristic- looking building, and the Cal Anderson Park.
