Top Cities to Rent a House

Renting is a good, sound idea these days, with the old saying ‘renting is dead money’, having always been thrown around, but maybe these days it’s just not so, especially when it comes to the skyrocketing property values and somewhat unrealistic asking prices. With the number of homeowners going into foreclosure these days from being unable to pay their mortgages it might not be such a good idea to purchase homes anyway when one is unsure about the financial stability of his or her neighbors and whether or not the terms of the mortgages will continue to be affordable.
That’s not to say the asking prices of renting won’t make a prospective renter sticker shocked as rental prices are still quite high in some of the top cities to rent instead of buy such as New York and Seattle. However the rental prices are still substantially better than actually purchasing a home in these locates. New York also boasts a lively entertainment scene, a variety of vibrant neighborhoods and is currently one of the safest large cities in the United States, all of which are qualities that are sure to attract prospective renters. Seattle also is a much desired location due to the stable housing market and the abundance of available jobs that seem to be hard to come by in this tough economy which make it a great place to start a family.
Now, take the cities of Boston, a compact city on the coast of the North Atlantic; Seattle, the northernmost major city and San Diego, the second largest city in California. Their property prices are starting at over half a million. With the stronger–than-average job market, the rent-to-buy indexes range in the low twenties, they are all viable options for places to move to and rent a home in order to reduce ones financial stress and go meet the new landlord.
The cities with lower asking property prices include: Portland, Oregon, one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world; Kansas City, the largest city in the state of Missouri and Sacramento, California, located at the junction of the Sacramento River and the American River. Kansas City is a smaller city but has plenty of affordable, spacious rental properties. Portland’s draw is that is has been said to be a big city with a small town feel. It also has break taking scenery which make it a great location for those interested in outdoor activities.
The list also includes Omaha, the largest city in Nebraska, located on the Missouri River, and Fort Worth, the fifth largest city in Texas. Forth Worth has been named as one of the fastest growing cities in America and it is a great place to start a small business thanks to the supportive tax laws. These cities all have home purchase prices that are relatively high compared to the rental prices that make it much more reasonable to rent rather than buy. However the various opportunities provided by these cities still make them excellent locations to raise a family despite the fact that renting is preferred in these locations.
