Money Saving Tips

Those who are feeling the pinch of the recession are constantly looking for money saving tips, and there are hundreds of thousands available, but there are some that are not covered as often. Let’s endeavor to look at some of those.
If you are spending money to keep your money in a bank such as paying service fees, be it savings or checking, shop around and then change banks! You have too many printed checks left that you paid for, you say? You do not need those checks if you use free online banking, which most banks offer.
Collecting and using coupons seems to be tedious work that most of us would like to avoid, and many feel that it leads us to purchase items that we do not need, anyway. However, do not stay away from free customer rewards. Those will mount up very quickly from places that supply you with necessities anyway, and will save you quite a bit of money, especially if you combine them with sales.

When you need to give a gift for any occasion, make it. Handmade or homemade gifts are always warmly received. If you make your own chutney from great-great grandma’s recipe for instance, pretty up the jars with stencils or beautiful bows and wrap it up in a bag you purchased from your local one-dollar store.
Make carefully itemized lists. Whether you need to go grocery shopping or to your local hardware store, fill out a list so that you are not tempted to purchase items you do not really need. This will stop most people from impulse buying.
If indeed, you are prone to impulse buying, make yourself wait for exactly one month before buying an item. You may find that having to wait allows you to see the wisdom of not getting the item, or you may find that you do actually have a need for that item. One way or another, usually most people find that it’s a great strategy for curing impulse buying.
