Infographic: How to Create Green Rental Homes
The Federal Housing Administration reclaimed 75,000 single-family homes in the year 2009 after foreclosure occurred. One thing the FHA could do with these houses is make habitable again and rent them out to people in communities across the nation; it could minimize losses for taxpayers and gain them extra revenue. To make sure that they get the best deal possible, they should first find foreclosure homes to rent out in areas with good access to services, like jobs and schools. Once they have found places that would have high rental demand, renovating and retrofitting the homes would be the next thing to do. Finally, once the houses are adequate to live in, they could start renting out rooms or floors to people looking for someplace to rent out.
