Baltimore city filed a suit recently alleging predatory lending against blacks. A week later, Rev. Jesse Jackson consulted the religious leaders of Baltimore about taking action to save home owners from the clutches of foreclosures. Jackson wanted the clergy to pressurize the banks in order put a hold on foreclosures and modify loans so that the payment amount remained affordable. If foreclosures were not checked the fall out in the general economy would be disastrous – Jackson warned. He believes that “whole cities are sinking beneath this poison pill” because the government has allowed such a thing to happen. The reverend recently spoke at Bethel AME church. He did not want the cities to keep things lying low – he wanted them to “fight back”. In order to draw attention to the foreclosure crisis, Jackson is heading a march on Tuesday that starts from the  Washington  Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) headquarters. Churches of Baltimore and other East Coast cities are expected to send busloads of participants.

Wells Fargo received a legal notice from Baltimore for selling more high-interest sub-prime mortgages to blacks than to whites. The city is reeling under a tax crunch due to foreclosed houses. Revenue that is being lost is hoped to be recovered from this legal suit. The president of the City Council, Stephanie C. Rawlings Blake, said that she is determined not to allow the banking group to get away with discriminating against people’s races. Wells Fargo categorically denied the charge, saying that their only consideration for advancing loans was due to credit history.

Monday was the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. In the evening, a rally was held at the AME Church to promote social positivism and to arrange all the details of the next day’s march. The pastor of Bethel, Rev. Frank Reid III said that the people should know that they are not alone in their dark days. Reid stressed that it is regrettable that church members are losing their houses – all the more so because they waited until it was too late. This shame has put a great burden on families and marriages.

Jackson told the members of the clergy who had assembled there to pressure their elected representatives to take positive steps towards fixing the sub-prime loan crisis. The loss of tax revenue will adversely affect public education, transport and health amenities.

The federal government has lowered the interest rate down to 3% for homes, How good does your credit need to be is the question. America is leading in several bad situations in our world. We have 3.5 million that are homeless of this we have some 200,000 Veterans that are homeless. We bring in some 5 million from other country’s every year. They are not expected to pay taxes. We have more and more jobs leaving our country every month to go down into mexico and other country’s We buy more from other country’s than what we sell. We are feeling the inflation. We are talking recession. Which is right before Depression. We must buy USA first. I believe that if every American that ownes a home would contibute to a homeless fund every realestate agent that sells a home would donate a few bucks we could in a short time have nice housing for the homeless. If the fortune 500 company’s would donate 10% of what they use in advertising to offset the problems that we have in America and used part of the money to build back America . Lets stimulate the economy. Lets buy America first. invest in America. The way our country is going we will be in a depression that will make 1929 look good. America is the 3rd largest mission field for Christians in the world. If we just applied the 10 commandments in our life all over the country this would do away with the National Debt .
