I am sad to read there are no protective mechanisms by which the local government can preempt the banker's vampire-bite. Brilliant people have long recognized this to be a Boom-n-Bust environment, although the optimistic investors never listen to basic stastical facts.

In 1993, I lost 10,k on my place on South Lincoln, and there have been zero subsequent property improvements in that block. Right on the Park, (over 200,k) things are quite different, but you really need to look at these HUD write-offs closely if you expect a clear return on your dollar.

As Denver is critical to the lifeblood of Colorado small business, so should her people recognize and remove the barriers to increasing its real livability.
