Family Saved From Foreclosure Waves
Some foreclosure stories have a good ending giving hope to all. Joe and Samantha found themselves caught in the foreclosure crisis. The holidays are about to begin but the couple has no thoughts for Christmas bells and carols. Suddenly they are finding that they cannot continue to light their home fires in their apartment. For the last few years they have been struggling with lay offs and financial troubles that caught them on the wrong foot.
However with help from friends and relatives they managed to own an apartment. But there was no cash left over after the deal. The Christmas spirit seemed to by pass them, as they looked at the faces of their two children aged six and eight. The Salvation Army brought gifts for the little ones as well as for their parents replete with a Christmas dinner. This is another way of snubbing foreclosure blues.
Perhaps there are many in the neighbourhood like Joe and Samantha who are unemployed or sick. They may have ailing children or parents to look after while struggling with rents and other items of bare survival as the foreclosure situation spills over to infect the entire economy. This leaves nothing left over for gifts or a special festive roast and pudding.
Into this vacuum has stepped in The Salvation Army and Gloucester Daily Times Holiday Fund. They are working at tandem to bring back meaning and fillip into the lives of those shattered by the foreclosure battering in some way or the other. An all round appeal is being made for donations. A small help will go a big way to bring back smiles.
This brings into focus the urgent need for community help in times of crisis. That is how mankind has bonded together and survived from time immemorial. The foreclosure crisis has been the handwork and machinations of few who hijacked a good endeavour aimed to provide house ownership to all. Now is the time for the many to band together to dam the floods of foreclosure and make life meaningful again. The blame game can be left to the politicians who are fishing in murky waters. Meanwhile the social activists and non-profit organizations can step in vigorously to show the way to a new future that laughs off foreclosures and tsunamis. A beginning has to be made – no matter how small.
