New Laws Initiated in Nevada to Tackle Foreclosure Crisis

Foreclosure CrisisSome 180 new laws were initiated in Nevada to tackle the foreclosure crisis. The kicking off date is 1st July 2009. Nevada ranks among the toppers in the foreclosure crisis. Connected with this many other new laws have surfaced.
Those eateries and business houses that donate perishable food to the hungry will be given protection. Also giving special status will be those that encourage renewable energy. The state properties will be expected to follow norms related to energy and water consumption standards.

The liability of eateries and other business units engaged in giving away leftovers and cold dishes have been reduced. In Nevada so far there has been no lawsuit over donation of food but in other states legal action has been brought preventing many from donating. Anticipating this, the law has brought this clause under its ambit. Attorney Kathy Pereira’s husband operates a bakery. She said, “We want to give, but want to give without fear. You cannot donate worrying that someone is going to file a lawsuit.”

The law related to foreclosures state that lenders would have to meet the borrowers who are at risk from losing their homes. As per the law the homeowner who is served with a foreclosure notice can ask for a meeting with the bank with the help of a mediator who is trained in this matter, so as to reach a solution that will be mutually accepted.

Nevada Foreclosure LawAnother connected law makes it compulsory for lender to give notice to the renters about the foreclosure of the property. The tenant has to be given 60 days time to shift to another shelter If a licensed health centre faces foreclosure then the Board of Health has to be notified.

It also stipulates that the foreclosure has to be recorded with the county in due time so that the authorities can keep track of the change of ownership.
Strong environmental related laws have been passed. $100 million general obligation bonds have been issued to fund environmental projects of Lake Tahoe covering a period of ten years. The water clarity of the famous lake has been falling and the money will be utilized to reverse that trend said Allen Biaggi of Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
There are a spew of other laws related to DNA testing, prevention of gang activity in schools, public access to meetings etc.
