Foreclosure Moratorium for Hurricane Victims Extended

FHA-insured homeowners of the Gulf Coast area who have been affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma received further relief last week when HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson directed all FHA-approved lenders to extend HUD’s moratorium on foreclosures of FHA-insured mortgages by 120 days.

Texas Foreclosure Rate Dropping

Traditionally a state where foreclosure rates are high, Texas has seen a drop in the foreclosure rate the past two months. According to a recent study, Texas saw a 7 percent decrease in foreclosure from January to February.
This means Texas is no longer one of the five states with the highest rates of foreclosure.
